Eco-resin jewelry is Belart’s newest line. They began to partner with the creators of eco-resin jewelry in 2015. The artisans are from the central mountainous Andean Region in Colombia.

The resin they use is entirely eco-friendly and non-toxic and products are handmade and created from bio-based resins, co-products of waste products. This means that the resins are made from upcycled or recycled materials that have been discarded. One example is pine bark that is stripped from pine trees when they are made into lumber. In using eco-resins, they have replaced petroleum-based carbon with renewable, plant-based carbon. These materials do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture. Instead of using conventional synthetic and toxic-petroleum based resins, Belart believes in “green chemistry” which requires less energy to create and produces less harmful byproducts, thus reducing our carbon footprint.

Belart founder, Tulianna Garcés, (pronounced: Gar-says) was born in Santiago de Cali, Colombia, but she has always considered herself a citizen of the world. Her grandmother was Russian and her mother was born in Persia (now Iran) and raised in Austria. Her Spanish-Colombian father was raised in Scotland.

By its 10 year anniversary, Belart was working with over 12 partner communities in southeast Asia and South America, partnering with more than 800 artisan partners and their families. More than 400 retailers in North America, Canada, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe and Japan sell Belart’s  jewelry and custom made Fair Trade products.
