Exhibition Catalog
Take a visual journey through 200 years of North Carolina quilts from the museum’s collection. The catalog was made to accompany the award-winning past exhibition at The NC Museum of History and includes additional research, full-page color photography, and bonus quilts that were not included in the exhibit. This 112-page catalog demonstrates how quilts can serve as portals to the past that reveal the experiences of people whose lives skirted the periphery of written history.
The Museum of History exhibit QuiltSpeak: Uncovering Women’s Voices Through Quilts (which has since closed) has been presented the 2020 American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) Award of Excellence by the organization’s Leadership in History Award committee! The AASLH Leadership in History Award program, now in its 75th year, is the nation’s most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of state and local history.
