Discover the essence of our artisanal hot sauce, lovingly nurtured and crafted by Byrd's Nest Box. "Red Town Hot Sauce" is inspired by North Carolina, BBQ maestro James "Dick" Hartsfield whom passed down his sauce-making passion to his great-granddaughter Falani. As a devoted farmer, Falani sourced a variety of West African and Brazilian peppers, and grew organic habaneros and chillies on her Maryland farm.
This exceptional creation boasts the rich flavors of farm-grown habanero and chili peppers, complemented by the earthy goodness of carrots, farm grown herbs, luscious fruit puree, and a curated assortment of vinegars. From our farm to your bottle, a taste that transcends ordinary.

Falani Spivey, founder of Byrd's Nest Box, is a nostalgic farmer who has relocated to rural North Carolina to revive her great grandparents' ancestral land in Louisburg. She masterfully blends ancestral wisdom with innovative agricultural practices, transforming family land into a thriving operation that honors both heritage and innovation. A skilled cultivator of heritage crops—from natural seeded watermelons and heirloom okra to exotic peppers transformed into artisanal products—Falani's work extends beyond farming into community education and cultural preservation.
Through intergenerational storytelling circles, family-centered workshops, and folklore events, she nurtures not only the land but also a movement for food sovereignty rooted in African American agricultural traditions. Falani weaves film work into her practice to document and share the story of her agricultural journey, creating visual narratives that bridge past and present. She creates spaces where agricultural knowledge flows freely between generations and community self-sufficiency flourishes.
